got it running but.....
so i got my 83 944 with an 87 engine running. did all the belts and seals and camhousing cover. so now when i start my 944 it fluctuates at idle between 500-700 rpms. after a couple of times when i step on the gas, i step on it for the third time and the car wants to die... i checked again and i am at TDC. the gas that was sitting in my tank is old so i added new gas and some gum out fuel injection cleaner. now it seems to be acting worse. i have a brand new 02 sensor, i now im getting spark and fuel..i also replaced my vacuum lines too, thinking it was a leak.. its just odd to step on the gas and have the car die....also you can smell gas like crazy, ...... if you guys could throw out suggestions, that would be great!!

i shoulld also mention that i bought new E3 plugs for it. when i removed them... they were black, even the center electrode..
is it also possible that it could be my reference sensors??
