Default MAF question

Hi

Just a question about the MAF. I have the 86 944NA, and I was medding around with things (we all know where that can lead, lol) and I managed to puch that little silver thingy on the MAF. It seems to have pushed in, but stayed in. What the heck does that little thingy (for lack of a better word) do, and how does it work? How do I get it to go back to where it was, and do I need to even worry about it. Seems to me it might have raised the Idle RPM a little, is this correct? IF that is what it does, what is the difference between adjusting that and adjusting the idle stop screw?

Ok, thank you all for helping me understand my car a little better.

Default RE: MAF question

The little silver plug with 2 holes in it? It is the cap for the AFM's CO adjustment, but that shouldn't cause a leak unless the adjustment plug below it is leaking a little.

Ah,, so thats what that does, its just a cover, lol. Ok, so I'll see if maybe I developed a small leak somewhere else.

Thanks again
