Default Making of a 900kg carbon fiber 951

The car was bought on Saturday with the idea of using it for drifting and weekend fun on the track.
On the sunday (pics 1)we had the first ride! The car had worn shockers and the car was full of fleas that had my legs bitten !!!!???

After this experience I decided to do something a bit more seriously ..
Thats why I started to pull the car down to bare metal completly (the texas chainsaw massacre).
As we have carbon fiber workshop the idea we had was that we could try one of the lightest of the 951 ever.
That bright idea (but laborious).
I'm doing this with Hákan an aeronautical engineer he are usual of weight saving on he's projects. .
The idea is to have a weight of 900 kg and 350cv to get that we are making an compleate carbon fiber bodywork.

The fact is:

The factory 951 weighs 1300kg and has 250cv which gives a result of 1300/250 = 5.2kg per hp
With 900kg and 350 hp you has= 900/350 that make 2.5 kg for each cv that is half the original power / weight .............
That's an power increase of 50% and with important improvement of handling and braking.

Here is a list of what is the weight of diferent items in an 951 ( In KG)
Rear seat: 12 kg
Carpets and privacy front: 21 kg
Carpets and insulation Luggage: 23 kg
Jacks & Accessories: 3 kg
Interior stuff (roof, below the plate glove, glove box, visors, lights, trunk / hood, cable 5 Kg ...):
Speakers (4): 1 kg
Door panel: 1.7 kg
Spare wheel and tools: 15 kg
Light projector and a motor mechanism: 4 kg
Heating + panel: 4 kg
Air conditioning: 12 kg
Rear window: 25 kg
Windscreens: 12 kg
Front hood: 24 kg
Sunroof: 10 kg
Front Bumper: 14 kg
Bumper rear: 14 kg
Rear deck: 14kg
Front fenders: 2x 8kg
Rear fenders: 2x 7kg
Doors 2x
Seats: 2x 25kg
Dash board and instuments: 10kg
Generator: 7.2kg
Fuel tank: 10kg

Thats make more than 335kg or 735lbs and we have cutted of much more.
The CF 944 carbon fiber front fender weights 0.8kg (1.76lbs)

Cool, keep us updated. I think you are low on the 1300kg stock weight though, every stock car I have weighed has been well over 3000lbs (without driver). Even with the factory AC delete cars, they would be over the 3000lb mark.

Hello I know that the car may be heavy but the thing is that we are going on taking away wight and what we count is what we take away and what the the original pices weight.
I have seen your web, Great jobb

Step 3
Making moulds.
I had a Idea again! Why not make a compelate Carbone fiber body?
As we are using carbon fiber to work with the ideas we had that we could try one of the lightest of the 951 ever.
That bright idea (but laborious).
Makin of first positive mould of the 4cm more wider rear fender with air in/out let's

Step 4
The Texas chainsaw massacre beguin.
Rear fenders (12.5kg)

5. Step
Rear deck has to go.....(13kg)

Step.6
The chassis the rear part have been eleminated for wight saving (2x3kg)
We believe that what is behind the rear suspension and front of the front suspensionis is only cosmetic or impact panels. The 951 has a very rigid chassis and with a well-studied welded rollcage it wont be no problem, there will be no stiffness problems.

At this point we can not keep on removing anything more at the rear end before we make the necessary reinforcements.
We are making all the rear subchasis in carbon / kevlar.

Default Wider

Before making the pieces in carbon fiber we do glass fiber premoulds
Making of a 2cm wider front fender with air outlet.

This is the work that we are making on the new nose cone.
