Default posible clutch problem.Help

I dont know if its the clutch or what but I have a 86 944 na. I can start it and it idles good but it makes a little noise when I push in the clutch. If I engage it into any gear and let the clutch out it makes a noise like a card going over spokes except louder and a weird smell. Wont move an inch. Does anyone have any suggestions on if clutch or flywheel or what? Thanks in advance.

You are right. You have a clutch problem. Its a hassle to replace a clutch on any car (the 944 is not so bad as many, though) so do it right when you go into it: I'd count on replacing disc, housing, springs and part of the assembly with new, good quality.

Thanks. Do you know of anyplace that would sell a decent kit that would include everything I need at a decent price? Also, I have the Haynes manual. Is it a good source of info to get this job done myself or like most bigger repair jobs is it missing the parts that tell you how to make it easier? or is there a good diy somewhere I should look @. I found a kit at europartsdirect.com made by sachs that has a complete kit that includes the clutch disk, the pressure plate, release bearing, all new flywheel bolts,2 release fork bearings and new clutch cover bolts all for around $625 dollars. Does this sound like what I need or am I missing something. Also, how long does this repair usually take for someone to do that is good at reading instructions and has done alot of self repair work. Just never a clutch. I work on my bmw all the time. Thanks for the help. Sorry for the noobi questions but I want to get my car going again.
