I managed to pull out the reference sensor, it looks good but I just don't know how to test it. Any ideas? I am thinking I will follow these procedures test it out : http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/ign-02.htm

Clark's Garage seems to be the Porsche fixer's bible. He has alot of good info on there, and a good explanation of the speed and ref sensor tests and replacement.
