Default new here and curious about porsche

hey, my name is dan and I have always been a euro auto fan. Ever since I was young my dad greatly influenced me by not only owning triumphs and lancias but also by making me help him do work on every car he ever owned.

I have a relatively strong knowledge of VW, audi and bmw. I owned a mk4 gti and now a mk4 r32 (both paid for by me) . I have always loved porches but never knew enough about them. My uncle owned several, but he was not an enthusiast.

What porsche model/year would you recommend as basically owning a first "porsche". I am looking for a model with basically two strongpoints, a porsche that is reliable and relatively easy to maintain. Also should mention that I like older models between the years of 1986-1998, as well as the fact that I am not looking to spend crazy $$$, I am only in my twenties and don't mind a car that I would have to work on myself from time to time.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A Boxster is really good all the way around except it is a bit difficult to work on yourself, without a lift.

A 968 or Turbo 944 is a great car, lloks great and modern in spite of its age, and easy to work on, too.
