i just bought an 86 944. the drivers side door handle doesnt work. i get the car wednesday and can actually run threw and check the wiring. i looked at the part to replace the door handle and the part doesnt get lower than 170. would it be worth it to replace the entire part, or is it logical to instal a door popper. which you can get a set for 40 bucks. im 18, and on a tight budget. thanks for reading and any opinions.

 

Do you know what part has broken on your door handle? Is the 170 for the complete door handle?
A common part to break on the 944 door handle is the drop link. If the door can be opened from the inside but not the outside, is will 99% be this part that has failed.

Good news is they are quite cheap to buy (Check out some independents such as Porscheshop or eBay). Bad news is they can be quite fiddly to replace as you have to do all the work through the small hole in the door.
