Default New to this forum, need some advice

I've owned many exotics over the years, 3 Lambo's, a couple of Ferrari's, Pantera's, Lotus Esprits', ... and a few Porsches (944, 996 C4, 996 Turbo).

I just bought (knowingly) a fixer upper 01 996 C2 with a problem going into 2nd gear which I am assuming is a typical synchro problem. I am in Southern California and need some help on where I should go and how much I should expect to pay to get it repaired. Most of the time I buy pristine cars and turn them before they need any major type of repair but in this case I bought this car as a "project". It has 66k miles and has the following problems. Can you experts point me to where I should go for parts/labor in the SoCal area?

1. 2nd gear synchro grind which makes it very difficult to get into second but all other gears are fine.

2. Clutch is very weak and plan to replace it while I have the tranny down. Any recommendations for type of clutch? It is just a daily driver and project, not a track car.

3. Cracked right rear taillight, can anyone point me to a lens replacement (even used) so I don't have to spend $400-500 for the whole assembly?

4. Rear engine hatch doesn't release, can't hear the actuator sound, no sound. Suggestions on what it is and how to open the rear hatch? Don't know if it is electrical or ?

It has a clear title even though it has been in an accident and has been repainted. Tell me if you think I got a good deal at $14k given the issues the car has. The engine runs strong and it is well optioned.

Thanks in advance for any advice. If you have any questions about the other cars I've owned, just ask. I'm mostly a driver, not a collector and not a mechanic but know about mods and model year issues to look for.
