Default 1984 911 with 964 engine?

Hello All,

Im working on buying my first Porsche and would like some advice. A local car dealer that sells classic sports cars has a 1984 911 with a rebuilt 964 engine forsale on their lot. I guess Im wondering what problems should I look for on a car like this? Or is the idea of an engine swap like that just a bad idea that I should just stay away from?

Thanks...

I don't think that putting a newer model engine in an older version of the car is a bad thing unless you are concerned about it being original. Just check that the brakes and maybe the gearbox have also been upgraded to handle any extra power.

As long as it's safe, I'd say go ahead and buy it.
