996 a Poor Man's Porsche?

RE: 996 a Poor Man's Porsche?
It's the opposite out here in CT. Bimmers and Mercs are a dime a dozen and very few Porsche owners. I'd love to run against you if we were closer. I've run against GT3's before. It was a good race but I took em.

RE: 996 a Poor Man's Porsche?
Hello everyone, my name is Jack and I am a new member. I currently own a couple of MB's but the wife likes the 911 Convertible. I have a question for any of you that may have the knowledge. How much is a 2006 C4S worth with 34k miles or what should I expect to pay. The car is really clean but it is not at a Porsche dealership do any of you see that being a problem? sorry for so many questions
thx JJ

E46 M3 driver comment
Sorry for the old news (from another post). My current car is an E46 M3 with a VFE S/C (480HP), KWs (V3), etc. and enjoy this car on and off the track a LOT. I recently test drove some 996TTs and 997TTs. They are both a VERY different (improved power and handling - big time!) driving experience (forget the poor man or not issue - it's a moot point *). I'm waiting for delivery of my TT in a couple of months (or sooner, fingers crossed). My modified M3 is in a very different driving category than the 996TT or 997TT. A stock M3 is even further away from the TTs but still a good drive, for sure.
I saw a recent show of "Car Crazy" and the host said a true car enthusiast is enthusiastic about cars, not into the "one is better than another mentality". He went on to suggest that the latter is more a statement about the speaker, than about cars. Ouch.
And, 'm still enjoying ever day of driving my M3 as I wait for my TT.
* A 996TT in good condition is about the same price as the new M3.

Gents,
I agree with you guys. I owned a 06 BMW M roadster after trading in My Boxster S. As soon as I traded in the Boxster S, I realized I missed driving the Porsche.
The BMW M roadster lasted just 3 months and I traded it in and bought a 996 911 Turbo.
The smile is back in my face.
