Brake wear/Tire Question..
Ok so my driverside front brake pads were wearing faster then the passenger side front pads so I took it to the independant porsche mechanic and he couldnt find anything wrong with the brakes and thinks because my passenger side tire is newer and the drivers side is like 70% wore its causing the ABS to over compensate and use the brakes more on the smaller tire.. so my question is.. Is this possible?? I dont want to buy 2 new tires if it wont really fix my brake wear problem..

RE: Brake wear/Tire Question..
Well, I dunno - I have trouble with that theory.
First, normally the ABS does nothing unless there is impending lockup, so its not doing anything to affect brake wear 99.999% of the time when you drive. The difference in rolling radius between new and 7% worn is what not more than a 1/4 inch.
If you have sufficient brake pad on the dirvers side just leave it just leave it. A mechanic has said everything is fine. Or replace the pads and tires (both sides) to even it out.
Worth think about just replacing the one worn tire you have to replace it soon anyway (I never let mine go past 25% tread best to have some tread there. Then the difference will be very slight and and you can monitor it from there.

RE: Brake wear/Tire Question..
I've only had the car for 1500 miles, my guess is the previous owner got a nail or flat and replaced just the one. I had both front pads replaced last week. Iwas planningto move to the new michelin A/S plus's whenI buy new tires. I just hate to replace them right now at $250 each ifit has nothing to do with the brake ware, especially since one of the tires is only maybe 10% worn. I could buy just 1 new p-zeroI suppose and wait for them both to wear and replace them with michelins later.
