Can anyone suggest what I should pay for a rebuilt 1983 944 long block? Are there any 'issues' that I should be concerned about? I am original owner of an 83 with 200k miles that has low oil pressure (light comes on while idling) and it smokes a lot after about 2500 rpms.

 

Engine rebuild will run you upwards of 5-6k. There is 40 hours of labor invovled IIRC, plus parts, machining, etc. Best bet is probably to find a low used motor from a dismantler. They can be had for under 1500.
