okay my buddy has a porsche 944 but it has a 924 engine in it.. but this was done stock... it's a very very nice car and has a hood scoop as well.. this is a 1978..

how rare is this car... i have heard it is rare... i registerd just to ask this

 

Sorry, if it is a 1978, then it is indeed a 924. The 944 was not released in the US until 1983. The body style is very very similar between the cars.

 

but it clearly says 944 on it... and looks EXACTLY like a 944 but the engine compartment says 924 inside... and he told me it was a 1978

 

Maybe it was rebaged. 78 would only be a 924 though. What does the title say? It is not possible to be a 944 in 1978, unless someone did the body work to update the look. This is not uncommon.

 

i will have to look at it.. but i heard there were some 944's out there w/ the 924 motor in it still and this was all factory... any truth behind this?

 

Not true at all. The 924S used the 944 2.5L NA motor in 1987/88. But no 924 engine in a 944...that would be taking a severe step backwards.

 

Post some pictures and we will definently be able to tell you. It is most proberbly a 924 with 944 body panels.
