Default New member with rough idle problem

Hi all
I introduced myself in your new members forum. I'm a newb on your site but belong to several motorcycle forums so I pretty much Know the drill. I searched the forum but couldn't find the answer to my question. I just bought a high milage 1983 944 non turbo. It's a great little car and it runs out great except when it's cold it will barely idle, after it warms up this problem disappears. I will replace the motor mounts which accentuate the problem, but the root cause is that the car tries to idle @ about 800 RPM and acts like it has a miss when first started. Thanks for any help you can give...

Start by checking your vacuum lines first. Then there are a bunch of things that could be the culprit. The dme temp sensor and idle stabilizer valve are where i would start first, then the O2 sensor.

Thanks for the advice. I did a dozen different things at the same time so it's a little difficult to know which fix solved the problem but I'm pretty sure it was a faulty DME temp sensor. The plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires, ignition coil, intake boot, and air filter probably didn't hurt either.

I have a similar problem. I changed out my Temp sensor and my spark plugs, no change. Still idles rough until warm. If it was a vacuum leak, wouldn't it idle rough regardless of how warmed up the engine is?
